Yellow Chromotropic Trap - Effective Monitoring of Flying Pests

The yellow chromotropic trap is an ecological and non-toxic solution, widely used in the monitoring of flying insects in outdoor agricultural crops and in greenhouses. Made of rigid polystyrene (PS) thermoplastic resin, the plate offers high durability and resistance to moisture, maintaining its effectiveness even in environments subject to intensive irrigation.

Attraction Mechanism

• The yellow colour exerts a strong visual attraction on various insect species, such as:

Arthropods;

Hemiptera;

Hymenoptera;

Lepidoptera;

Diptera.

• The surface of the plate is coated on both sides with non-drying glue, highly adhesive and water-resistant.

Application and Recommended Density

• The installation density varies according to the crop, target pest and objective (monitoring or mass trapping);
• Minimum recommended installation: 20 plates per hectare;
• In cases of high population pressure, progressive densification of the traps is recommended.

Attention: Frequent monitoring and periodic replacement of the trap is recommended, especially in situations where the intensity of the level of catches reduces the ability of the glue to properly retain the attracted insects. The yellow colour may attract beneficials, namely bees, which may inadvertently be caught in the trap. Prior evaluation of each situation / target pest and the selection of other trap colours is recommended whenever this is possible for monitoring the target pest. Alternatively, you should consider other options for monitoring the target pest in situations where the use of the yellow colour results in high capture of beneficials in the trap.
